Liberty

Materials: English Oak  Circa: 1975

To mark their centenary, Liberty's of London, commissioned this dining room.  My childhood memory of the mock Tudor interior of the shop prompted visions of medieval England and Knights of the Round Table gathered around a mighty oak.  The oak leaves of the table interlock around the acorn 'cups'.  In response to the tradition for triangular chairs made by turners, here all the structural components are turned and these support the cushions laced in the same colours as appear around the table.
